I researched indie music magazines to see how many there are, I only found 4 that specify in Indie alone, 2 of which are American owned. Therefore meaning there is a huge gap in the market for the British. This INDIE magazine is a European magazine and the company is based in Berlin, Germany. This magazine barely has any writing on therefore suggesting that this is more of a visual magazine.
I looked on The Faders website and found that it is an American owned company. This magazine is minimal due to the fact that there is no codes on the front cover therefore breaking conventions. The Fader make the focus of the front cover the model as no writing has been displayed apart from the masthead and the artists name.
Under The Reader is also an American owned company. These magazines tend to have a lot more writing so therefore being informative.
The Fly was a British magazine but finished publishing in 2014. This magazine was dedicated to articles, interviews and also promoting new releases. As there was/is only one British indie magazine this shows theres a gap in the market for indie.
There are other magazine companies that link to the genre indie but not many magazines aim specifically at Indie.
In conclusions I found that from my research indie magazines tend to have minimal writing on, I shall therefore break conventions in my music magazine as I want to create a new market for he indie genre.
